You can't use the original A3 or S3 airbag as it's larger than the new one. Need to buy the new airbag together with the wheel.

Is it possible to code the exhaust switch to override the S3's exhaust flaps to being gas pedal activated? That annoys me.

I believe your wiring is not correctly done. I got the coding done by a shop that specialise in retrofitting so I do not know what are the exact codings. But even without coding, all the buttons on the right hand side (with the exception of the telephone button) should work right away. At least this is what I had experienced.

Hey rs200z, are you Hong Kong based? I have the FL 8V S3 steering wheel on the way and I will have the exact same problem as you. As far as I know, there's a shop that has an adapter available to make the drop down menu button work, but it would involves wiring cutting.. Still unsure if I should just leave the button and go with the cutting wire route..

PM me if you want the shop info...

Hello Guys,

Do you know if this steering wheel fits the "Facelift" 8V S3 with VC as in fully plug and play?

Also do you find this steering wheel sits closer to you? like if it has more offset?

Thanks!
JC

I read your post on the other forum, you have VC right? If so, yeah, it's pretty much plug and play. If you don't have VC, you'll loose the "MENU" function on the steering wheel unless you get an adapter.

But TBH, it sits about the same, you won't feel much difference at all other than the look...

Getting the other buttons to do something isn't easy unless your really into can bus hacking. Here is a video I did of an R8 wheel in an A7. The exhaust button is controlling an external sound-booster module and the race button I have controlling the rear spoiler for now (which isn't on the can-bus). I used the left and right buttons on the left side for comfort turn signals.
Of course I have the menu button working

Just shows what can be done if you work at it long enough.

I've been trying to crack the canbus since I got the car two years ago! Any pointers?
