Default Hi Guys , I'm back

Its been a while. Sold both the B5 models, got a clean 24k mile Lava Grey Pearl 2008 A3 3.2 from Chicago in the fall of 2014. Only up to 35k now.
Already added a few things Superpro drivetrain bushing, Whiteline rear sway , Pirelli tires, Unitronic tune and blah blah blah I'm running on now.
Currently working on reman of Boxster calipers for install with the Apikol kit. Got some S3 bushings for front arms and Powerflex bushings for front to do as well as Whiteline trailing arm bushings that I have in my pile of things to do.
If you look at the pictures Kris took at Carlisle in 2015 you will see a few shots of the car, it was the only A3 at the show. Skipped the show this year after 9 yrs of attending.
I'll try to come on here a bit again. I'm currently on 4 other forums, a photo web site and my own blog. Somehow I'll try to find time to do some car repairs in between work and the web.

Its quattro, all 3.2 versions in the US were S-Line and AWD. Its Haldex not Torsen like the older Audi but its not too bad in snow. I've been through two winters with it and have had no issues except for it spins front tires a bit before the rear kicks in when parked in a deeper snow drift. I've driven into our work parking lot and made it into my parking area in up to 16" of snow , snow tires help.

Actually, I think the Haldex system is somewhat of an advantage. There is a new Gen 4 multi setting Haldex controller. You can via a switch change the AWD system to be more rear wheel driven, even distribution, and or have a gas miser setting that remains mostly front wheel drive. I live in Florida, so I just got the race version Haldex that changed the primary power to the rear wheels and front wheels assist during launches and hard accelerations. After that it adjusts to what ever the best torque distributions for power and grip. I love how it changed the feel of the car. It's much more active in the corners.

I have a 2011 DSG A3 Platinum 2.0 TSI, with a new K04 set up. Dyno'd at 430 ish hp on cool evening at about 50 feet above sea level....which means I'm close enough to 400 to the ground as I wanted to be. I'm very happy with this set up.

I'd love to drive that up here in snow with some good winter tires. I've pulled off a 6.5 0-60 with my car in snow tires before I got the Unitronic tune. I was in 5-6 inchs of snow. I use the iPhone app Pocket Dyno for checking out random stuff like this. You need to input weight and other factors accurately to get close HP numbers but its awesome for 0-60 and quarter mile checks when you are outside of any traffic areas. I have one of the GT-2 Escort performance meters and I hardly use it anymore. My best 0-60 on dry has been 5.6 sec after the tune. I'm guessing I'd turn a qtr at about 14.1 because beforehand I'd done a 14.4 by the timer. I'm thinking about going to Norwalk sometime and running it Summits track to get proof for my domestic rod friends.
