OEM starter vs Aftermarket starter - which ones?
Hi,
I believe the starter on my 08 A3 2.0T FWD is gone. When I turn the key, it simply clicks one. AAA said that the starter was gone and after using the trick of tapping the starter while turning the key, it started up. It ran fine for a day or so (no tapping required) before not working again. In calling around a few independant garages, the cost of replacing the starter ranges from mid-$300s to $500. Some say they will use a Bosch made one ($450 to $500 total cost) vs some other makes ($370). The dealership is going to be more of course but I'm wondering if one should go with the OEM starter or if an aftemarket one is fine for this part?
Cheers.
