Well...even though it is heavily disguised, it looks exactly like the current car. Then again, it's not as if Audi has been reinventing the wheel in their recent redesigns and seem to be taking the 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' school of thought. I am still holding my breath if they are going to continue to offer a manual for the S5....

Well, the styling of the A5/S5 certainly ain't broke, so let's hope they just modernize it enough to compete with the current crop of coupes. The exterior of the car is still beautiful, so I think if they just overhaul the interior it will be a contender. If they keep the same engine/drivetrain that is in the current S5 they will still be ahead of the pack. It is still winning comparos against brand new coupes and it is a blast to drive.

I wonder what the re-designed A5 Sportback will look like. To me the current A5 Sportback is the best looking car Audi sells. It is so much better looking than the somewhat similarly styled A7 and in those "lucky dog" countries in ROW where it is sold, it is a lot cheaper than the A7. I see them n Mexico fairly frequently and always think they would sell like proverbial hotcakes if Audi sold them in the States.

It will be interesting...
… One of my reasons for getting an RS5 this year was that is the swan song for the V8. I will miss it, but the forced induction in the new model will pull like a bear from low rpm's on up. It will likely be easier to drive fast through the canyons and if it sheds 500 lbs, I will surely not complain. My RS5 outweighs some small SUV's. Because we have a new S4 and until recently a 2015 S5 in the family and can switch back and forth during the weekend canyon sessions, I am really appreciating the agility of the S4/S5 family. If the suspension and brakes were equivalent to the RS5, it would likely be no-contest. The S4 would scamper away. I do love the V8 sounds and am savoring every mile as it is likely the last of the breed… even the new R8 will have a V10 or V6 choice.
Its all good though as we can hardly complain… although we will likely find a way ;-)

I am holding my breath for this as well as my lease for my manual 2013 S5 ends late next year and would love to get a new one. I am just hoping that the 'high' (relatively) take rate for the manual, plus the A/S 5 competitors such as the 4 series and ATS coupe offer a manual will force Audi's hand to offer it as well. But that's a lot of wishful thinking as I ignore the other competitors Lexus (whatever that new coupe is called) and Mercedes C Class coupe are auto only....sigh.
