Default New "2014" S5 owner in Dallas with few questions please!

Hello,

My name is David and I just bought a 2014 S5 out of Tucson and it will be here in ten days. Think I got a smoking deal as it has many of the Prestige features , has 16.7k miles, in service original purchase date was 12/13/14 so my factory warranty will not expire till mid December 2014 if i do not exceed the 50k miles first. I paid 40,600 as the dealership who took car on trade in did not know how to sell it or what they really had. White with dark interior upgraded leather/sound/nav etc etc. SO for warranty left plus the car is immaculate smells/looks brand new think I stole it??

Questions relate to "best" NON warranty killing mods followed by pulley upgrade for down the road plus "best" local Dallas shops to do work/mods. I have a blown LS3 2008 vette with 812 rwhp so NOT looking to go crazy on my new daily driver but like to know best option re exhaust/air intake followed by pulley/ecu tune etc!! Thanks

1. Suggested AUDI (non dealer) aka known performance shops/places to do mods/work that are not "awful" on labor rates who have solid local track record NO major drama on line etc been there done that before other cars!

2. Best Audi DEALERSHIP (Dallas area) to work with re reg maintenance etc? I am locally closest to Plano dealership but past history dictates some are better than other like a go to service guy who gets modding cars etc! So if one dealership comes more referred than others love to know please

3. BEST place to buy the black mesh fog light/front grill replacement grilles please? I saw ECS on line but what is the suggested protocol here who to buy them from please?? ANYONE suggested in Dallas to install who is reasonable priced?

4. BEST air cleaner/suggested exhaust (Milltek??) set up to go with that is NOT going to go for LOUDEST sound but maybe best bang for the buck/nice new sound but not the loudest. Whats best suggested combo and is that only cat back OR will people say the down pipes must be done also!

5. Full Factory warranty still in effect with simple air cleaner/exhaust change?

6. When ready after warranty goes away...........best pulley/ecu tune to go with. I know several exist but if seeking additional say 75 ish rwhp without BLOWING the thing up as my vette is blown but on methanol to avoid detonation, what is suggested SAFE pulley/tune combo to do and where to buy and who to install in Dallas or surrounding areas please!

7. Is there any local Audi group that meets in Dallas minus Cars/Coffee monthly in plano?

8. What is suggested mid range priced wheels "black" for this car? Dont want the $1000 a wheel deal just like the concave/kind of honey comb look saw MIRO/ALZOR/Avant Garde etc?? wheel around 300-maybe 600 ish??

9. What kind of money may my stock 19 inch split 5 spoke wheels with NEW run flats bring on line here maybe??

Thanks when able to any advice.......first Audi ever to own! I can't wait to get the car it seems amazing.

Thanks David

Hey David Welcome. You're going to love the car.

Couple of things...there are lots of folks on here from Texas, so they'll help with your best locations for upgrades, service etc.

You seemed to have Typo'd the wrong factory warranty date expiration...maybe 2018???

Also the price seems inline with '14 coupes that are not Prestige.

Sounds like you did not buy from an Audi Dealership, whereby the deal would have been excellent as a CPO. Giving you 6 years and 100K. Having said that, the miles are low and reasonable enough to turn out to be a very good deal. Try and get an Audi dealership to give you a printout of its service record via the VIN.

As for wheels, you can generally do well looking at people here selling their set or Audizine. And also searching and buying locally using Craigslist or Ebay. Why your car got runflats is a mystery.???

Aftermarket exhaust will not void your warranty, but ask your local Audi dealership these questions. I've got and AWE touring, which sounds wonderful and reduces cabin drone, versus the Track version but there is still some drone. I've not gotten down pipes, therefore do not know.

As for air cleaner, I use a K&N that I clean regularly. No interest in hearing the supercharger whine with a cold air intake. The sweet sound of the AWE is enough for me.

Welcome again.

Thanks! You are correct sorry 12/13/18 warranty will expire so about as good as i could get warranty wise factory wise being NON CPO! Biggest challenge will be keeping my hands off those mods tempting to do pulley/tune but race car is already in garage just cant drive in 100 degree heat running ac with fat intercooler on my 08 C6 vette! HOPING some local Dallas/Ft Worth folks comment looking to skip the "$$$$ learning curve" going to the WRONG shop to do anything been there done that multiple times over on a old twin turbo (double $$$ trouble) 300 ZX! These forums hold invaluable info when one knows to research (some I have) but much a learning curve like help getting a handle on ASAP. Thanks again.........David

Default Let us know if you come west...

Great canyons and mountains in Southern California.

I also suggest joining the North American Audi Club. Lot's of drives, track days, tech sessions, etc. and discounts on parts and car purchases. I am a member of both the Audi and BMW clubs and they are well worth the investment.

Audi Club of North America

ECS Tuning has been helpful to me and they have a great website to explore aftermarket solutions.

Tires and wheels - I have acquired over a dozen sets from the Tire Rack and have always been satisfied with their service and support. Below is a new set of BBS CM's that I got at closeout for $200/each (normally $600/each). Switched from 20's (OEM) to 19's (also OEM) to save money on tires as I am going through a set every 6-8K miles.

Welcome aboard…

Eric

Congratulations on the purchase!

I live in the Dallas/Plano area and I have not had positive experiences with Audi Plano for service, to put it mildly. For the past couple of years I have been taking my car to Eurosport in Plano for service and have had good experiences, though I have not had any particularly difficult work done yet. I may be getting my timing chain and tensioner replaced in the next six months, so I should have a better idea of how competently they can perform a significant service.

Default One of the advantages of joining the Audi Club...

… is some honest support for info on local dealerships. They also have an ombudsman program to help settle dealer/customer disputes.

Here is the URL for Lone Star Chapter of The Audi CLub… scroll down to find the president, etc and contact them directly. That's what I did when I moved to LA - talked with John Deenihan (LA president) - very helpful - steered me to Audi Pacific, plus reputable tire repair and service (Wise Tire in Inglewood) and specialty shop (Eurocode in Torrance).

They will have those data for Dallas as it is a happening car place…. Audi Club Lone Star

Any suggested exact parts/brands to buy re BLACK MESH front replacement grill and fog lights covers also? EXHAUST don't want it sounding super loud etc! Like enhanced performance/sound (sounds like a viagra commercial sorry) and better sound BUT not over kill. Does one do cat back OR down pipes too? I have no clue in this car what is best protocol! LOVE pics of black wheels on white S5 or RS5 etc looking at options! Will have a set of BRAND new tires on the split spoke aluminum looking wheels to sell soon! Ill check with Lonestar group but any Dallas suggestions re shops that have good reputations for mods would be great to get still!!

Thanks

David

Sounds like a good deal. I bought a 2015 Prestige 6 speed MT in Feb that had an in service date of Sept 2015. It was an Audi corporate car and had only 8000 miles. Came from DFW! I paid about $8k more than you after factoring out the fair value of the Cayman S I traded in. I think we both got good deals but neither of us got deals that we could turn around and resell for a profit. I'm going to drive mine for a year before I mod it at all. Maybe longer. If I track it I'll do brake pads and fluid and that will be it. If I ever tune it I'll go to APR as they are just an hour from my home.
It's a really nice car. You'll enjoy it. 2nd on the Audi Club North America membership. I have been a member for 12 years and have made lifetime friends there and have done lots of enjoyable drives and track events with friends I have made there.

Cool sounds like you too found a good deal! Car ships from Tucson next Thursday here a week from today. Cant wait. Hardest part will be to stay away from that pulley change! My 08 C6 vette is blown on methanol alcohol putting down 807 rwhp and 760 ft lbs torque so not much I can do to match that!!
