Purchasing first Audi, is this a good buy?
Hi everyone,
New member here, and very close to purchasing my first Audi, and I am excited. However I want to do everything right, and seeking some advise from the community.
The car in question is a 2011 S5 cabriolet. Here is the link:
Used 2011 Audi S5 3.0 Premium Plus For Sale Orlando FL
CARFAX Vehicle History Report for this 2011 AUDI S5 QUATTRO PREMIUM PLUS: WAUCGAFHXBN006256
Asking price is $32,000, but the dealer said since it has been on the lot for a while they're willing to go to about $27,000. The car will be used as a commute to work 66miles a day roundtrip way.
Any obvious red flags here? And any good party to purchase an extended warranty with, if it is advised?

Price seems high to me...
Here is a 2012 with 6k less miles and a Prestige - they are asking $34k. Only $2k more then the one you are looking at.
2011 Audi S5 For Sale in Atlanta, GA - CarGurus
2012 - Prem Plus, 40k miles - asking $33k.
2011 Audi S5 For Sale in Atlanta, GA - CarGurus
I would take a look on cargurus.com - looks like you can get a 2012 for around the same money.

Hi David,
Thanks for the helpful response and links. I will keep exploring other purchases, but I do prefer the aggressive look in the 2011 model versus the 2012-current. Look at this car in question does anyone see anything that should deter me from purchasing?
The dealership is willing to go down o $27k
Thank you guys

Thank you David for your, resourceful response. The dealership is willing to go down to $27k and i can negotiate further. That being said, I do prefer the model design on the 2011 more than the 2012. Unless I shouldn't? New to Audi's but 2011 model was praised as well in reviews and consumer reports.

$27k, if you can get it for that, seems like a pretty decent price to me.
The only thing that would bother me is the relatively high mileage (41k) coupled with 66 mi each day means you'll probably be approaching 100k miles in a few years. I say this because in addition to work, since it's a cab, you'll probably be using it for the weekend/vacation getaways too.
If you do get it, I'd definitely try to find a good used-car warranty, something that covers convertible top repair. I'm not saying the top is likely to have issues (I don't know) but that seems like something that would be expensive to fix outside of warranty.
Another option, depending on your budget, would be to look for a lower mileage, perhaps newer car, that is CPO. If your budget allows, I would look for cars that are about 2 years old with 20k (or less miles) as most cars depreciate the most in the first two years.

09S5 purchase a almost bumper to bumper warranty car had 42k miles at the time of purchasing .
I paid 5 years or 120k miles for $ 3100 with 0% interest as long as it is paid off in 24 months. The finance company is called MEPCO.
Warranty company is Plateau Service Company Great company. Been using them for years .

Is this Audi certified? If it's just the seller saying they performed the 128 point inspection, I would take a long hard look (possibly by another mechanic) for hidden water damage, repairs, etc. just to be sure since they don't say which 128 points they certified.
I'm interested about your experience with the warranty company. I did some research a few years back and it sounded like they were not worth the money. Were they a hassle to deal with when you had to make a claim?
