B8 A5 (2010) 2.0L T Starter replacement.
Hey guys. Forgive me if my first post seems a bit technical.
I bought my a5 roughly 3 months ago. I haven't had much dealings with it. I don't know all of the Audi lingo (yet).
My starter went out. I live 2 hours from the closest audi dealership. However, I am pretty mechanical/tech savvy.
I called the dealership in Lexington, KY. The guy in service told me my starter was located toward the front behind the intercooler and radiator. He said I would have to remove the front bumper cover, and pull the radiator forward a bit to get to my starter. Soooo... I did all this.. only to find the starter is actually under the downpipe behind a motor mount (brace?).
If anyone could lead me in the right direction of getting the old starter out and the new one in. I would much appreciate it. I don't want to go ripping things out that I don't need to. I looked for a DIY but seem to only find them for other models/years. ANY help would be much appreciated.
PS. I have already checked all the fuses and relays... at this point it has to be the starter. (Also has a new battery).

The following link to the Ross-Tech Wiki is a list of the usual OEM manuals.
Official Factory Repair Information - Ross-Tech Wiki
I suggest you purchase a one or two hour subscription to Erwin (the official VAG NA site) and download the repair guides you need. The instructions are very detailed.

They're lousy, even the Ross-tech won't tell you how
FWIW, however, the learning curve is steep. You'll get a lot better with practice, which is apparently the way the Germans want it.
