That article, and the linked video is pretty bogus. The report actually says the updated Q5 with a Euro 5 2.0TDI failed the NOx limit (which is 0.18g/km) by 25% (so 0.23g/km).
The Autonews Europe headline, and the Reuters article were misleading, by accident or design, in suggesting 25% higher than the defeat version in the Q5.
Although a headline claiming removing defeat software causes emissions to go up did bring a chuckle.
The UK equivalent of Altroconsumo is Which?
Car emissions explained - Which?
According to Which?, the Jeep Grand Cherokee produces 2.7g/km NOx, or more than 10 times the updated Q5. I guess Altroconsumo don't test Fiat-Chrysler vehicles?
My understanding is that the fix in Europe is to remove the code rather than reprogram other aspects which may affect performance / consumption / noise. But if I was in this situation, I would wait.

They lie. If indeed it did not affect those parameters

I'd wait awhile unless you plan on selling the vehicle. If you're going to trade it in let the dealer worry about it. If you have to have it done for state emissions that's another matter, but normally diesels are exempt from state emissions.

it would have been done as new. It will at least affect the 'blue' fluid additive usage.
