Default Anyone successfully fix burned seats by Audi in Canada?

I was searching the archives for an unrelated issue and came across this thread of AoA fixing a burned seat so long out of warranty:

Heated Seat "Recall" Complete

My seat developed a burn hole a while ago and now my steering wheel gets very hot on the back elements and the fronts don't work at all. I noticed that AoA and Audi Canada share the same toll free number and made me wonder if they may fix our cars as well. I don't have high hopes as we are not as litigious as the US but it may be worth a try.

Any anecdotal info, success or failure would be appreciated.

Cheers

I would give it a shot. The worst they can tell you is no but when I went through the process I made sure to mention something about safety and not getting burned. That peaks their interest and gets things moving. Good luck.

I just lost my write up twice so here is the nutshell version:

AoC wants a dealer to confirm it is a manufacturer defect, rather than normal wear and tear for the age of the car, at my cost of over $700!

Cost to replace heater and leather in the seat only is $1600 before taxes.

Given that I don't expect AoC to do much for me other than a token offer to pay for labor I'm not going to bother.

I will look into how much a used seat costs instead.

Bummer, that's too bad.

Yeah, at those prices you're best bet is to try and find a good used seat. If you want this may be your best chance to change up the interior if you want. For example, I have a tan interior and would much rather have the black but I don't really have an "excuse" to do it. ;-)

I'm ok with the highland green interior thanks for the tip though :-). There is a seat on ebay for $234 looks tan incidentally which is not bad at all considering one with a burn hole is going for $180.

I have a set of allroad seats on ebay too from my AR. I always thought that burn hole was from the previous owner smoking a cigarette. I guess it was from the element...

Your colour doesn't match mine. I have the highland green exterior/interior which has the dark green bolsters instead of the black. Even if it was a match I'm sure shipping would be deal breaker. There is a huge price increase as soon as you ship outside the US.

Do you have other parts for sale i.e. parting the car out or just did the Recaro upgrade?
