Here's my new-to-me '04 tip. This is my 1st Audi after all kinds of European and Japanese vehicles. It's replacing my '01 Saab 9-5 Aero 5-speed wagon -- and so far I'm really liking it.
A big part of the Saab experience for me was their engineering (I've had 3 - a 9000 and 2 9-5s). Same for Volvos (3 of them too). Having had 4½ Subarus, the comparisons are interesting -- I just hope the AR is as reliable... All the major items are taken care of (TB and suspension) and it was owned by an Audi tech, so I think I got a good one.

haulin' with it
about the biggest piece that an ar can swallow and close the hatch; 41.5 inches tall by 63 inches long, max length that can fit would be 65 inches
any bigger . . . and a truck would be needed 'shrugs'

For the tires I went with 285/55/18s because it's an allroad. I wanted to be able to climb over curbs and do some dirt trails and light offroading. That is the primary reason I did not go with 19s. I also wanted really "meaty" tires that bulge out. I'm not a fan of the "stretch" look a lot of C5 A6 people go for. I like the muscle car look. Besides, stretched tires are more prone to chipping/curbing, etc. The setting you see the car is on Level 2. If you have no intention on climbing over curbs and light offloading with your allroad, I would go with 19s, just because they fill the wheel wells better and look great on the car. However, I'm a true allroad guy and bought the car for it's versatility. To those that put 19s and 20s on their allroad.... just buy a S6.
Regarding the pods, they are custom. There is a guy that does them but they take 3-6 weeks to get in. They are molded perfectly for the vent you specify. He mainly does mazdas, subarus, and audis, but I've seen him do all sorts of cars, like volvos, jags, fords, and range rovers. (http://www.block8head.com).

Good information
Having joined the Audi ranks for the first time after an entire life of BMWs, i am thoroughly impressed with my first, an allroad 2.7t quattro. Save your breath, I have heard all the horror stories, but trust me, I can give you nearly 50 years of BMW tales.
I look forward to keeping alive this old ar. Being a CA car, it appears as new and is a fine car begging to let loose the stored hp in the sheepish factory power settings. I have high automotive standards; driven by my Art Center education; and this Audi impresses.
From all I can see, this Audiworld forum is itself a high quality group and I look forward to all your experience and stories.
