Good day! I love this forum and appreciate the diverse opinions and the crazy amount of experience on this forum. So I own a 2003 Allroad with 140k and am looking to upgrade some engine features on it. So I am looking at a Stage 1-2 upgrade. It already has coil overs and is a 6spd so that's sewn up and I just gave it a tune up with new coil packs...so now I want to make it faster and more mpg friendly if possible. So advice? Any recommended exhaust/header places to buy from? Does Ebay work or...? Cats or no cats? What are the implications associated with the ECU? I have $1000 and am wondering if that will cover it?

most ecu tunes will run $500+
that gains 60ish hp

with the last couple of hundred, might not be bad to do a stage 0, plugs, coil packs if needed, the various filters, vacuum lines, then go from there, if those hadnt been done yet

also helps knowing which motor your dealing with.
the 4.2 has fewer upgrade routes to take vs the 2.7
