Just finished re-assembling with new engine, clutch and tranny (btw: Spec3+ Clutch is smooth as silk)
Every time I push it left and up it needs so much force it pops the shift armature right off the ball.
All other gears 2~6 engage as normal.
Anyone else had this problem before ? Unless I missed something obvious this is tranny re-install :-(

Try this:
Clutch pedal depressed, engine running. Attempt to put the car into first gear with normal force on the shifter. When in hangs up and won't go in, reach across with your left hand and shut the engine off.
If it drops right into gear, you have a clutch problem. The disc might be hanging up on the transmission main shaft.

Hard to interpret - see if I got it right
I think you are saying :
1. Engine running
2. Depress Clutch
3. Try shifting into 1st using normal force
4. Shift as far as it will go until it resists
5. While using right hand to hold in that position reach over with left hand and turn off engine
6. Continue apply normal force note if it goes into gear when engine is off - if it slipped into gear once engine was off then clutch problem
7. If no change (doesn't slip into gear) then tranny problem
Is that right ?

What ? How ?
Shifters movement within shift box is correct.
Shifter Box itself is correctly aligned as per Bentley.
Torque bars are correct.
Bracing armature is correct length as per Bentley.
What's left ?

Ok - well it has *never* shifted into Rev. Shifting while Engine is off doesn't change
First does not slip-in when turned off as per step 6.
Pretty sure linkage, shift box and shifter are all good.

Well the Torque Rod & Shifter Rod are naturally bent - got pictures of normal ones ?
I sure hope it is that simple
This trans hasn't been molested since it left the bench at Stasis - it would be VERY disappointing if this was an issue with that work.
