I dislike this post because I've been think of upgrading to a newer A8 (mine is an '05) and this just makes me want to do it even more. Oh well it's only money.

It surprises me how well it works and this isn't my first car with voice recognition. Yesterday I finally tried the "Enter Address" voice command.

Works great, but you have to be careful. For example the address was 2824 Spring Forest Road. You have to say "Two Eight Two Four." Not "Twenty Eight Twenty Four." The voice prompt even tells you that.

As long as you speak clearly and there's no other chatter in the car, it really does work.

I have to go to Seattle this weekend and I'm very tempted to test drive a newer A8L. I love my '05 and thought about upgrading to a slightly newer car but the bells and whistles on the A8 D4 have me sold. Also the 4.0t. I'm a cheapskate and almost never spend more that $35k on a vehicle. I never buy new. A 2013 A8L with the 4.0t can be had for around $45k. I'm trying really hard to wait until prices drop down to the $35k range.
