The soot cleaner is non abrasive. Just wash it off good after gleaning. I imagine it may be a mild acid, not sure. But it removed soot from glass without scratching. I haven't found anything else thallium take it off. Worth s try. Can get at lowers or any fireplace shop. The cost of those tips would have me looking for alternatives. I'm going to freshen my tips up today. I'll report back how it works. Steel wool works great, but you're chromed days are numbered

You guys will find that weekly cleaning of the exhaust tips, during your regular wash, is low effort. Keep the tips clean and they're easy to deal with over time.

The P21S Polishing Soap is still my preferred product...I'm on my 4th container. Interesting product and fairly inexpensive.

Good advice, but washing those tips for me isn't that low of effort.
Thanks for the product tip though. I'm getting some to try on rocker panel chrome strip. It's all cloudy and etched looking. Not sure if from hard water, sprinkler system or other chemical. I hate it whatever caused it. Can only see up close though.
Has anyone else has this cloudy, mottled looking blemish on any chrome strips?
I think I'll just make a new specific thread
