Default Back on the board....

Howdy folks. I used to be on this board back in '01-'03, mostly a lurker who picked up info reading all the threads. Had a black '98 A4 2.8QM that I loved. Sold the car (and the '02 Jetta 1.8T) to get into a house faster (which WAS a good decision) but have always missed my Audi since.

I currently drive an '03 Protege that was a good cheap little car (no complaints- it is very good for what it is), but I want an AWD Audi again.

I've pretty much made up my mind to get an '04 or '05 A4 3.0 QM UltraSport in the next couple of months or so. They seem to be rarer than hen's teeth, so I might look in the USA as well. Pricing down there doesn't seem as enticing as it was just a few months ago. Thought really hard about an S4, but I can't justify it as a daily driver with gas what it is.

Besides, if I really want to haul a$$, that is why I ride a bike.

What do you guys typically get for mileage on your 3.0 M cars?

I've done a little bit of reading on common reliability issues with these cars; not too many that worry me. What would you say are the top 5 to watch out for, though?

THanks in advance for the replies.... good to be back!

Default get a used B7 2.0TQ instead. Newer, warranty and not a lot more $ than what you're looking for.

Fuel consumption is a lot higher on the V6.

Default *ding on the mileage*

If you want something smooth then the V6 but honestly the 2.0T isn't that bad IMO. Mileage-wise I get about 21-23mpg in mixed driving (more city). Highway, best was 31 mpg with two passengers and not exactly doing the speed limit.
