What is "PING" problem , I m not understand about that. Couple people say this chip make a ping problem. So someone can explain me what is PING ???

Thanks

Has to do something with using higher octane gas, I think?

Default found this on google...

"If you are running too low of an octane for your motor, you will get
pinging. Pinging in its extreme form is also known as detonation. The
fuel/air mixture is igniting all at once and exploding instead of igniting
as a flame wave. The resultant "bang" is very hard on the pistons, head,
rods, and cranks"

and

"In an overly-simplistic nutshell, chipping a motor will usually
advance the ignition timing, adjust the fuel/air ratio, and modify several
other highly proprietary and secret things to increase performance. Among
the main factors in detonation are (1) heat; (2) compression ratio; (3)
octane rating; (4) fuel/air ratio; (5) ignition timing. Modifying any of
these factors can either increase or decrease the propensity to detonate.
Advance the ignition timing and you increase the potential to detonate.
Retard the timing and you decrease the potential to detonate. You can
balance these factors by modifying some to offset others. If you increase
the fuel/air ratio and advance the timing, you can raise the octane and end
up with more-or-less the same propensity to detonate as the non-modified
motor. Alternately, you could lower the compression ratio, but this would
cause a loss of horsepower and efficiency and undo all the gains of
modifying the mix and the timing."

Default Its my understanding that Pinging is what you hear when there is pre-mature air/fuel detonation (m)

which is bad news.
The engine control unit (ECU) program controls the timing of the spark/detonation and other things such as knock sensors are involved. Two basic principles to keep in mind are:
1) Higher compression = more power; and
2) Lower octane gas detonates at a lower pressure than higher octane gas.

The factory (or stock) ECU program is not as powerfull because it assumes that a lower octane gas will be used and has a conservative safety factor built in so pre-mature detonation doesn't happen. The aftermarket Chip programs deliver more power becuase they are "tuned" to a specific grade of octane gas and their safety factors are less conservative which means you are living closer to the "edge" of pre-mature detonation.

Using lower octane gas is usually the problem. Higher octane gas should ping less.
