Agreed. The employees aren't the one that decide labor rates and markup.
The organization takes advantage of being the original place of sale, the service and warranty contracts it receives, etc., which is why they feel they can raise the prices and still have people cough up the cash. Don't get me wrong, it works for them and they make a great deal of money because of it. Have you ever seen the income statement or balance sheet of your average dealership? I can guarantee you will see whose pockets that vuluptous profit margin is going into.
I'm a realist and that's how I justify the terminology.
No offense and not trying to be controversial April, but there's two sides to this story IMO.

Good dealers provide value
I've been going to Pfaff for service because I don't have to drive across town to get there. The labor rates are higher than independents ($105 / hr) parts are competitive as long as you are comparing OEM parts. They provide me a free rental (so I can continue to earn money to pay them) wash and vacuum the car, parts are there most of the time if not they get them within 24 hours. The value they provide is convenience and as long as they do good honest work they will continue to earn my business.

1- Nonworker male bee: insects a male bee that has no sting, does not gather pollen, and exists only to mate with the queen bee.
2- Lazy person: somebody who does not work or contribute anything, instead relying on the work or energy of other people.
3- Pilotless aircraft: air an aircraft whose flight is controlled from the ground.
I wonder which one I am.

Wow. Good point but..
Dear Weasel,
I am extremely happy with my dealership for their customer service. These guys come to my work, pick up the car, fix it and bring it back. Its amazing. But you wouldnt catch me dead buying part in a dealership if I could buy it cheaper from somewhere else. Which is 100% of the time. You tell me a part that the dealership sells that I cant get for cheaper? Why is that (just a question)? The cheapest part I have ever bought from a dealership was $3.00, and it was a freaking PLASTIC screw! Anyways I like the dealerships, as most people here do for some reasons, and do not like htem for others, aka parts and labour. The consumer always goes for the best deal.
Out.
Your friendly neighbourhood roach.
