Default PPI in Natick, MA

Hello Audi enthusiasts from new member Jeff in Michigan. I am a long time Honda/Acura guy (/94 NSX and current daily driver /06 TL). After 9 years and 136,000 trouble-free miles in the TL it is time to move into something else. Mother Honda doesn't have anything that suits my needs this time around. I am in process of working out a deal on a CPO A6 at Audi Natick. Any recommendations for someone good who can do a PPI for me? The vehicle is only 6 months old/6000 miles so I don't expect any mechanical issues. I am more concerned with someone knowledgeable with VAG experience/credentials going over the car to confirm no evidence of paint/body work and driving the car to confirm that drives as it should with no rattles/squeaks. Salesman at Audi Natick totally on board with PPI if we agree on terms of deal. Thanks in advance.

Apologies if I post in incorrect place -- not the best at navigating my way around the forums yet but want to get this up since things are coming together quickly.

Best,
Jeff

Jeff, welcome aboard! Are you in MA or MA?

I haven't heard of anyone doing a PPI on a CPO car. I guess I can understand your concern if you are buying from a distance. CPO doesn't guarantee in any way there haven't been trips to the body shop.

Two sources of info I'd want:

1. review all warranty claims made to date (Audi)
2. review Carfax report

My neighbor just got a '15 CPO A6 from them a couple weeks ago. Beautiful car, very good price for 6,000 miles.

Hi uberwgn and thx for quick response. I am in Michigan. Glad to hear your neighbor had good experience with Audi Natick -- I've been dealing with Wunna Zeya and he seems to be straight shooter and good guy to deal with. I've seen the carfax -- it is clean and car is a service loaner taken out of their pool. Is your neighbor's car a 3.0T and if so is it Dakota Gray w/black interior? If so, I was considering that car but could not get things together quickly enough at my end. The one I am trying to work a deal on is also a 2015.

Yes, agree that CPO no guarantee that car has not seen a body shop and that fact, coupled with wanting to have someone drive the car to confirm drives as it should and has no rattles/squeaks are the primary reasons I need a PP.

Good suggestion on the warranty work, thanks. I have asked for evidence that 5K service was done and I'll also ask for any and all other service records.

Do you know of anyone I might engage to do a PPI or would you have any contacts that might know someone with the requisite expertise?

uber -- one other quick thing. I'm new at trying to navigate my way around audiworld so I'm wondering if I posted in best location to garner some responses re: PPI. If I haven't and you think better for me to post elsewhere on the site let me know where would be best to post or if you can easily copy my initial post or quote and reply elsewhere on site I'd really appreciate that. Thanks and I'm hoping all comes together and A6 will materialize in the near future.

Yes, the Dakota Grey with black is the car he bought. It's stunning (when clean) and appears to be flawless.

I've got a local Audi guy here in Millis. He used to work at Bernardi (Audi Natick). I think he would be qualified to do a mechanical inspection and ensure things operate as intended, but I don't know if he'd be the right guy to do the body work evaluation.

I can move this thread to the regional area forum but I would not promise you will get more attention/assistance there.

Are you flying out to fetch this car or is it being shipped?

I'm all set on PPI provider, thanks. They are all of 5 minutes away from dealer. P-car specialist (European Performance Engineering) and they indicate that they see lots of Audis in their shop. Assuming I come to agreement on price (no reason that should not happen) and I'm happy with what I see in the way of service records and PPI checks out, I will fly out to get the car weekend of June 20. Thanks for your input and help. One last question -- do dealers in your area charge doc fees and if so, any idea of what is typical?

I think just about everyone in the region is trying to get away with doc fees. The premium dealers will be in the $300 - $600 range.

Well, I came to agreement on price but turned out car had some minor rear bumper cosmetic issues not capable of being buffed out and also could not be touched up without looking bad. Dealer did not want to absorb cost of the repair (they told me their cost would be between 500 and 600) despite my offering to cover 200 of that cost. I guess the felt that they had gone as low as they could on price. I was not willing to bring a car home to MI from Mass of this caliber with any cosmetic defects so the deal looks like it is dead. Another bus will follow in due course. Uber, thanks again for your help.

I'm back! The delay worked out well for me. Found a brand new /15 3.0T Premium Plus equipped with 19" sport package (S-line), Bose, LEDs, cold weather package in ice silver/black -- pretty much exactly how I would spec the car if I ordered it. Great dealer in Ann Arbor, MI and between my VAG supplier discount, Acura conquest $, Audi Financial $ and a further dealer discount I got an excellent deal. I've had the car for just over a week now and it is wonderful.

Two questions if I may -- (1) I have a slight vibration north of 45 mph -- for sure coming from rear as there is no steering wheel shake at all and the vibration is felt in the seat of one's pants and if no one is sitting in passenger seat you can see it vibrate -- classic rear wheel imbalance IMHO. Build date of car was 11/14 and I suspect car was sitting for quite a while. Has anyone experienced anything similar? Dealer is going to check it out next week. Hoping just a rear tire out of balance or at worst one flat spotted/slightly out of round tire. (2) There is a bit of rust at top of brake rotors and I get a little bit more noise from brakes upon application than I was used to in my Acura -- normal or an issue? Again, dealer will check out next week. On the whole I'm very happy with this purchase. Any insights on the above two minor issues appreciated! Thanks.

Best,
Jeff
