Default >91 octane in Bay Area?

Was reading in another post (can't remember where, now, as I've been all over these boards trying to soak in as much info as possible) that there's 100 octane gas around -- is that for real? I've never heard of that. And do y'all really think it's better for the 2.7T than just the "regular premium" 91 octane at most stations?

I'm a total Audi n00b, so pardon me if what I'm asking you guys sounds like a kindergarten-level question when y'all are college-level by comparison! Just wanting to learn as much as I can about taking care of my new car so it stays good shape for as long as possible.

BTW, I am in Contra Costa County, so if such a thing as >91 exists and you know where I can get it in my neck o' the woods (C.C. County or Alameda County) that would be great.

Thanks in advance!

Default actually about halfway between 280 and 101

King's Union 76, Woodside Rd and Kentfield, IIRC. It's the only 76 station on Woodside Rd.

Default there's 100 octane in Livermore, I think.

Look for a poster named Bauer and ask him. He *must* know. On a stock car, mixing in a few gallons of 100 octane will get you a bit more power and noticablely more high-rpm smoothness. If you're chipped, the effect is more pronounced.

Default Where in Livermore?

Thanks, Dan. Do you know which station in Livermore has this? Also, thanks for the info on the Union 76 in Redwood City. I rarely get down that way but if I ever do I'll be sure to give my new Audi some 100. She's not chipped, but nonetheless she might like the treat!

Also, I will be on the look-out for this Bauer person you speak of and ask him!

Thanks to everyone else who responded too -- I appreciate it!
