Can anyone tell me if a carpool ticket (VC-21655.5b) is a point or just a fine in California?

Default Can anyone tell me if a carpool ticket (VC-21655.5b) is a point or just a fine in California?

I got tagged in a carpool lane at 7:08pm according to my clock, but the cop said it was 6:50pm on his clock.

I don't mind paying it, but don't know if it's a point against my driving record.insurance. Been looking all over the code, and online, and have mixed answers.

Gracias-
Ernesto

From what I've heard it isn't even a moving violation ... similar to a parking or no seat belt tix.

Yeah... that's the common consensus, but can't find a definitive example. Not even on DMV site

Default FYI if ever in same situation again... GPS!

GPS system actually gives you 4 dimensional fix in both space and time. The time is synched up to the atomic clock that's on each GPS satellite, which in term are synched up twice a day when the satellites fly over a Gov't GPS ground station in Colorado... that's 1 of the things that contributes to GPS's accuracy. So if ever need an official time again, point to the GPS system!

If don't have GPS, next best thing is the time display on your cell phone. Most cell phones have build in GPS now a days (for 911 emergency, it tells 911 your GPS position). For those phones that don't have build-in GPS, I suspect it's synched to the cell tower signals... which I trust is just as accurate for this purpose.

Default what gregt said, unless something's changed since my high school days.

moving violation; trial by written dec, then take it to court.

Default Didn't think of the GPS, I showed him my wrist watch, and he even stuck his head into the cabin to

see the cluster and cell phone times that were in synch. I've got RSNE in my car, so the GPS has a chance.

It was the end of the month, so we know he was being driven by other objectives.

I'll fight it, and when signing the ticket, I even wrote down the 7:19 time over his 6:50pm to show how long it had been since when he pulled me over, and when he finished writting the ticket, FWIW.
