Well there you go. His order has no bearing on yours (other than the ~6 common weeks of production and some or all of transportation). His may be late Oct and yours early Oct. Again, the biggest variable can be which spot in queue each of you got reflecting when each car will begin production. And the other big one is where it's being shipped to. It can take 17 days longer to get to California than it does to Rhode Island, for instance.

Yep, unless he's ordering the exact same vehicle I am, there's no telling where he would land in comparison. At the same time, has he gotten actual dates yet? It took a while for me to get mine, and they're obviously placeholders with no production week estimate and that huge gap in there.

3 months is typically the assumption that you'd make, with 2-3 being where most seem to fall (much of the variation likely includes getting allocations). 3.5 months after entering the factory system is pretty crazy, but "averages" are "average" for a reason.

Still hoping that my dates get pulled in since I haven't heard of any parts shortages that would affect me, but you never know. We'll see what happens as I continue to check in with my guy each Friday.

I am hoping for both our sakes that your schedule is off. I have a call into my salesman but still waiting on a reply. I understand that the location in the que is a big player, but in our case, delivery time should be similar. After a year of debating I am finding it hard to wait these last few months. (first time ordering a vehicle!) I was envisioning receiving the Q5 in time for my wife's birthday and your post caught me off guard.

It's hard to say; I'm not sure how Audi schedules builds and since you're S-Line and I'm not, there could be different scheduling due to that. At least it seems like S-Line builds are unblocked (at least somewhat), so who knows maybe they'll be pushing all the S-Line builds ahead of my non-S-Line. Hopefully your guy can get some data soon for you, especially since trying to guess based on my incomplete data probably isn't too useful.

Hopefully production is earlier than the 6-8 weeks out that the ship load estimate would indicate. We'll see what the coming weeks give us (if anything).

Default 2014 Q5 TDI

Got mine last Saturday (7/27) from the first shipment. Ordered it the week before. Really like it.

Q5 TDI
MMI
B&O
Ice Silver
Black Interior

Now wondering if I should get the extended warranty:
7yr/100K m = $3,730
7yr/70K m = $2,679

Any thoughts?

Many grats- great color scheme. The extended warranty looks v expensive, I will not be getting one for my SQ5.

Congrats! I'm not sure others would think of this as an "order" . I think you merely bought one that was not currently at your dealership. Not that it matters of course if you got what you wanted. Congrats again! - please update the thread on TDI MPG once you get some data.

I've purchased extended warranties in the past for new cars that I'll plan to keep for 100k+. I haven't given it much thought on this one yet though. I did on my S4 which I owned for 200k miles and it paid off nicely. I also bought one for my wife's Tiguan and it hasn't needed to be used yet (one issue [intake manifold position sensor] was covered under VW drivetrain 10yr./100k standard warranty). And my A3 I bought CPO so likewise covered. Not sure what I'll do with Q5 TDI yet.....
