2015 Audi SQ5 -TOW Hitch
Hello Audi Enthusiast!
Wanted to introduce a first AUDI of mine .
2015 AUDI SQ5 - Mythos Black with Magna Red/Black Interior.
Sitting Tall on the 21" Rims
And i have my first question. I am looking to install a tow hitch on it, but from my research it seems that the only way to get it done is to cut the diffuser!
The tow hitch that i was looking at was Curt - Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" Curt Trailer Hitch C13136
Any ideas or recommendation on getting the hitch installed without any "surgeries"
Thanks!

From what I learned, the OEM dealer installed hitch ties into the handling control system, but not sure how big a difference an aftermarket hitch will be from an Audi hitch, suppose it depends on what your towing. I'll be haggling the heck out of the dealer for a better price on the hitch before I pick up mine.

Congrats on the new Q!
Several threads on the hitch topic already if you search. Here's a recent one >> https://www.audiworld.com/forums/q5-...tch-s-2886265/
For the factory hitch there is a small cutout in the valence that is removed to expose it. Most of us then cut the cover only exposing the receiver for a cleaner look like so. Not sure if aftermarket can use the same or if add'l surgery is req'd >>

Execuhitch: the new kids on the block, who supposedly have designed around all the other shortcomings.
"a small cutout in the valence" Small, like the same size as my license plate. Ugh. And on the non-S model, you've got to cut out roughly the center third of it yourself, the dealers don't have a fine Japanese pull-saw for this. (Stanley also makes them.)
The dealer installed OEM hitch is, AFAIK, the only one integrated with a controller computer to control power to the hitch link. They also reprogram the car so in theory it will shift differently, cool differently, brake and use the ESC system differently, to accommodate when a trailer is present. Sensing the wiring, via that computer watching the power link.
The OEM hitch actually involves removing the rear bumper cross-member and replacing it with one that has the towing hitch welding in the middle. The original cross-member is now expensive trash (where can you sell one?) and the original right rear towing point is no longer there, you have to tow by the hitch. (There's no left rear towing point on any of them, even though there's a knock-out in the bumper.)
For a fast two grand...OEM might be the only fully integrated system, but still, for two grand....?!
