2015 Q5 tilt mirror
Just received the wife's Q5 after waiting 3 1/2 months for delivery.
The passenger side mirror tilts when in reverse which is nice. Couple questions:
1. Can this also be programmed for the driver's side mirror?
2. Why does the mirror not automatically return to the normal position when taken out of reverse? The car must be going forward 9mph before the mirror returns to the normal operating position. Can this be reprogrammed?
As always I appreciate the knowledge and experience peeps on this forum offer.
Thanks,
Bill

2.Simply, when you park your car and you have to go 3-4 times back and forth every time the mirror without the need to go up - down

I assume that #2 is because when parallel parking, 3-point turn, etc, you may need to move forward very briefly and then reverse some more. If the mirror immediately returned to normal when putting it back into Drive, it would then hinder your view when you then quickly switch back to Reverse. Basically I'm guessing it would be an annoyance, and thus useless, if you have to repeatedly move forward and backup.
Again, this is my assumption. My car hasn't been delivered to me yet

And it's the same with the parking sensors and backup camera (if so equipped), all three combine into sort of a "parking mode", so until you either turn off the car or are driving fast enough that you're obviously no longer parking/"unparking" then they stay on so as spijun says they don't keep activating and deactivating as you change gears.

Appreciate all the comments and experienced perspectives.
We are having aftermarket front and rear parking sensors installed tomorrow. Opted for that vice the backup camera.

I can confirm in the morning, but I'm pretty sure that switching the mirror dial off of the passenger mirror icon will raise it back up again.
Also, might want to try the memory seat button as that may return the mirror back to normal on demand.
Frankly, the 9 mph thing never really bothered me. I get why they do it that way, and there aren't too many situations where you'd need instantaneous view from that mirror right away.
