It's not uncommon or a huge red flag IMO and Audi has done this for previous vehicles we've owned. On our 2000 A6 4.2, they did a warranty extension and reimbursement mass air flow sensor replacement.

I don't think there was any change in the 3.0T between 13 and 14, but I'm also yet to see a carbon buildup on this engine. On the S4 forum at Audizine somebody took out a supercharger and carbon there wasn't bad at all. People have been driving these engines for a while now and so far I haven't seen any complains.

Got my letter today. It is NOT a warranty extension for the 2009-12 3.2L or 2009-13 3.0T engine but extends to 10 years/120K miles to cover a MIL light that is specifically caused by the need to clean the engine cylinder head secondary air ports only due to possible carbon buildup. Nothing else is addressed or covered beyond the normal warranty period.

Very surprised that the 3.0T is included in this. I've only heard of one instance of carbon build-up with the 3.0. Can someone post the letter?

If you fall into the years and engines as noted, you'll have your letter very soon.

Got mine today also. Two letters, one for the wife's Q and for my S5. Q has not yet shown any symptoms at 70K. Everything still original, to include brakes and tires.

Probably not. Audi Canada doesn't usually follow Audi USA's lead.

Ditto. My 2009 Q5 is at 80K miles and so far so good (knock on wood).
