How long for factory order 2016 Q5?
We've been shopping for a Q5 TDI. Selection of 2015s at local dealers doesn't seem to match what wife wants.
So, if we did a factory order on a 2016, what sort of wait time are we likely looking at?

East coast about 12 weeks. West Coast 14 to 16 weeks. Your dealers can search Audi inventory for vehicles already allocated or built, but not sold and intercept them for you. That could speed things up.

I'm east coast, so that helps. Thanks for pointer on "intercept" idea. I'm guessing the combo won't be too hard to find, but just not available on lots right now.

Order-to-delivery times can greatly vary since it depends on when your order is able to go into Audi's system (your dealer must have an open allocation slot to place a new order) and scheduling of similar builds at the factory (vehicles are built in batches of similar configurations, so you could get lucky and go into production right away, or you might've just missed the last round and have to wait for the next one).
If your dealer has an unsold order waiting to be built, they can usually modify it to match your specifications, which would skip the "waiting to go into the factory's system" step.
Generally, though, around 3 months is a good ballpark estimate. My order took 3.5 months to get to me (not far from Houston) despite going into the factory order bank the same day, but it also ran into the typical August shutdown and the rampup for the A3 launch so that introduced some delays. Some people have gotten their orders in closer to 2 months (sometimes less if they had a modified dealer order), others it's been more like 4 months.
