Default MMI - 2G only

Hey Guys,
my MMI is only picking up 2G signal with T-mobile. I know the area well and it has been all 3G with very good signal up till last week.
Is there anything in settings that I need to change or check? I didn't play with it and did not change anything!

In some regions T-Mobile dropped some of the 3G frequencies and uses the same frequencies as AT&T. Audi has to swap the module in the MMI to account for this. There is a TSB for this: TSB 2039515/4.

I had the new module installed a couple of weeks ago and it restored 3G service in nearly all of the areas around me.

When they installed, did it erase all of ypur modes if you had any? They also have to update MMI sw at the same time.

I didn't notice any changes other than reverting back to 3G in most areas.

Also, if you already use AT&T for your mobile phone service and have the shared data plan, you can "add a device" for only $10/mo and it just pulls the data out of that plan. It's not unlimited but I don't use anywhere near a gig per month in the Audi so this option works great for me...and is cheaper. Like you, I only got 2G with the T-Mobile and now I get 3G service mostly everywhere.

You put an AT&T sim on your previous Tmobile MMI and got 3g AT&T?

Yes, my T-Mobile introductory service expired and I didn't renew it due to only offering 2G in my area. I went to the AT&T store to try an experiment since I heard that T-Mobile and AT&T essentially use the same bands/frequencies. Since I had an old 3G ipad laying around that I didn't have the cellular activated on, the AT&T rep used the SN, IMEI, etc from my ipad to load onto the new SIM card and activated it. When I inserted it into my MMI, it worked like a charm and has been 3G ever since. The monthly bill is only $10 extra and pulls from my 15gb data bucket.

The reason I used my ipad was because the Rep said they didn't have an MMI option in their database to select for the billing. The new 2015 A3 and Q3's were listed but they are 4G LTE and the price point is a bit higher. I did this about 18 months ago so there may now be a better work around to add service without having to use an inactive ipad or tablet device??

I thought the factory T-Mobile MMI has a certain frequency/band that limits it to 2G when moving to AT&T?

MY2016 moved to AT&T?

Thanks for all the replies... contacted the dealership and yes there is a new module on the way hopefully next week and should solve this issue once installed.
