That's correct. All MY2016 are now AT&T. Audi ditched T-Mobile and is officially using AT&T for Audi Connect starting with all MY2016 models.

Super Swiss -
When I compare my current SIM card in the MMI to my 4G ATT SIM the design and size are different. Did you have the same issue and how did you get around it?
Thx!

Starting with MY2014, the MMI has an upgraded modem that supports the new T-Mobile frequencies as well as the AT&T frequencies and also supports the faster HSPA and HSPA+ networks. The TSB that was mentioned above upgrades the modem to the same one for MY2013 models. I've switched to AT&T earlier this year and it's like 10x better. Added it to my mobile share plan by activating a spare SIM through one of my tablets and then I just put the SIM into the MMI. I never had T-Mobile reception in my garage. My entire neighborhood has terrible T-Mobile coverage and the network quality of T-Mobile around here sucks. Terrible latency.

2015 Q5
I’ve been reading this thread and have gotten the best info so far why my WiFi is so bad.
My 2015 q5 mmi only has 2G, and I have T Mobile. I don’t want to switch to AT&T - so is there a way to improve my coverage without switching carriers?

You won't even be able to switch to ATT because their 2G & 3G network is gone forever. Come this July the T-Mobile WiFi in your vehicle will get even worse as that's when it plans to severely throttle back their 2G and completely shut down their 3G. 2G will remain for parking meter and vending machine data. Unfortunately, not with each other.
2G phone service will unusable. So basically, any and all MMI's leading up to 2017 will be shut off from the world. No more "online destinations" from the vehicle.
My wife and I need WiFi in our vehicles for our dashcams so in lieu of no vehicle provided cellular data I went and grabbed a couple 4G hotspots. They're powered by a micro USB and I removed the battery in each so they turn on and off with the vehicle. That's the only alternative I could come up with.

Thank you for that information… and that idea!!! I’ll start looking into that.
For the time being I have to shut off my WiFi and use the cellular data in my phone. I was just hoping to find a way to not have to rely on that.
You have been a great help!
Thank you very much!!!!
