Default Single knock at 7mph moving from a stop

Hello readers.
I have a new 2015 q5 3.0. There is a slight knock from somewhere under the car when starting off from a stop. It always happens about when the car reaches 7mph. Does anyone else hear a similar sound when moving from a stop? I've been trying to find existing discussions but only found things referring to
normal Quattro sounds. Thanks for any input.

I wonder if they didn't do a complete prep before delivery and forgot to remove something from the car.

I have the same noise in my 15 3.0t that we've had for about a month. Sound appears to be coming from behind rear drivers side seat. Happens on every launch, warm, cold, same speed. Sound is not heard at higher speed, over bumps, when turning, etc. It is not the door locks (only once around 10mph) and appears to be unrelated to the ABS noise some people complain about.

If you figure out what it is, I'd be very interested. I'll have the dealer check it out during the first oil change...

That sounds like the same thing. It's a fairly quiet sound. My wife drives the car to work everyday and didn't notice until I had her listen. I think I noticed because I was already tuned in to the rear cargo cover rattle.

The sound reminds me of a '98 Grand Cherokee I drove for 2yrs. I drove it in RWD but it had the option for Full Time 4WD. I never had the Jeep checked out because there were so many additional noises.

I'll post any answers the mechanics give me. I hope to have the Q5 listened to in the next few weeks.

Could be the sound of the doors automatically locking at 6-8 mph. Try locking all the doors first before starting off and see if the noise is gone.

In my case, it is not door locks, very different noise, different speed. This noise happens on every launch at around 7mph. Sounds like a relay click. Doors lock only once and is much louder throughout the cabin.

This is normal. I actually took my car in and they had a look at it including contacting Audi headquarters. It's the Quattro system adjusting the bearings (I think - or something similar) at a set speed - in my car it happens at 8mph (but only after a complete stop - if you go down to, say, 2mph and speed up, then you won't hear the noise). When I took my Q5 in I noticed that my A4 loaner did exactly the same but at a slightly different speed.

Again, this is normal so I wouldn't worry about it.

Hmm... I am rather sensitive to noises, and I must say, I have never heard it, not on our Q5, and not on my previous A4.
