I went into the local dealership today and they are quoting 90-120 days for a factory order as they couldn't locate what I was looking for (diamond quilted seats). This is a smaller market dealer. Would it be any faster if I went and ordered from a larger market (i.e. Houston, which has three dealerships) or is four months the reality for waiting.

Based on what my sales rep told me, they build one batch of SQ5's a month, so depending on how lucky are you, you may end up waiting from about 8 weeks to 12 or so. Bigger dealerships may happen to have allocations sooner, but it's really hard to find out if it's the case or not (my sales rep initially told me 3 months, but now it looks more like 4 months). So even if you will be told 3 months, there is no way to know for sure at least until you get a build week. From that week it's takes 6-8 weeks depending on when car will make it to the ship, and where it needs to go to.

There is also the chance that a larger dealer, while perhaps getting more allocations, would also have more sales orders on that model. No way to tell unless you check around and even then, there's no guaranty that what a salesperson tells you would be accurate in the end.

Got some good news (finally!). As of this Monday, my car is in status 15 (Production), which according to sales rep means it's on the line. And delivery ETA moved up to Nov 25th (1 week earlier than what it used to be).

Congrats, hopefully it's able to get to you a little earlier than the 25th too (or that the weather doesn't get too bad until it's come in, at least).

Thanks! Next 2-3 weeks are going to be critical to determine the actual delivery time, as from the moment it's on the ship the schedule is pretty much fixed. So I'm holding my fingers crossed to avoid delays in the port of Emden.

So weird that some salespeople won't use email. Mine was cool, emailed him every so often, he looks it up, emails me back. Says here, track that ship, son.
WA is a money-back deposit state, so he's psyched for the car to get her and close the deal on his end.

Aaaand now it's on the ship! Looks like it will arrive mid-November afterall (although "official" ETA was not updated - I judge it based on the ship's schedule). I keep my fingers crossed!
