As long as there are heartbeats, but no record of movement, I'm going to assume the car is in good shape.

I called A&TT and they confirmed they can track it to within a mile or so if given the IMEI. The person didn't seem to think they needed the police. I suspect as long as the account is registered in my name, and the Allstate folks seem to think it is, AT&T will track it. I'm imagining myself trolling around by bike hitting the panic button on the key FOB listening for the car. I know it's a super long shot. I happen to live near the port of Seattle. My guess is it's in a container.

Default A metal shipping container will most likely block the signal

The Q5 may be in a warehouse, garage, etc. if it is still transmitting.

You really should have the police involved if AT&T starts tacking it. These scumbags could be very dangerous if you try to upset their operation.

Good luck!

Not sure about WA, but in NY or MA if the local police don't show or do anything, contacting the State Police usually makes things happen fast.

I forget if this has been mentioned, but have you called all the tow lots in the city? Cars get accidentally towed off the streets in the Boston area all the time. I think that's more likely than your car being the target of a sophisticated car theft crime ring.

Although unlikely, it could also have been a mistaken repo tow.

Yes. Lincoln towing is responsible for towing from Seattle city street. I've called and they don't have it. I haven't called every impound lot in Seattle. I may try to do this today if I can get some time.

Sorry to hear about your loss. What you need is an Uncle Vito. We have a bunch of them running around here in NJ. Uncle Vito could get your IMEI and a personal police detective escort today.

I suggest you (or your toughest friend) put on your best Uncle Vito impression and call Allstate. Then don't let them off the phone until you get the IMEI. Get loud, get obnoxious, they will want to get you the info so they can get you out of their life.

I have. There is a two week waiting period before they will cover the claim. But I'm a bit of a geek and I don't like the fact that there is a plausible way to recover the car but nobody seems to care. Plus seems like it could be professionals and the idea of putting them away pleases me.

I know how that feel, but just let them do the work. If they cant find it. Insurance will be getting you a new car. nowadays cars are being stolen left and right.
