Why no 4.0 TFSI Q5 / SQ5? Would be a sleeper beast!
I have just been learning about the Q5 and SQ5. Very nice cars. Nice SQ5 comparison in new Road and Track.
While they are quick with the current 3.2 FSI, they would be sleeper beasts with the 4.0 TFSI available on A8 and S6. Should beat most other SUVs including BMW, Porsche, Mercedes, Jeep SRT in a more subtle package.
Does anyone know if this has been considered. Any idea why not built and brought to market?
Thank you!

I think that would have the makings of a nice RSQ5. Steve

Porsche Macan Turbo
Porsche expects to sell over 55K Macan's and Audi makes a whole lot more money on the Macan than they do on the Q5.
Cannibalizing one market for a less profitable one. Their progression would be if you can afford something like a TT Macan V8 then you should be shopping at the Porsche dealer instead.

Keep learning.
The 3.2 engine hasn't been offered in a number of years now, replaced with a supercharged 3.0.
As far as why no 4.0 TFSI in a Q5... well, top of the line engines are typically reserved for the top of the line models like the A8/S8.

A 4.0T Q5 would be an RS model, based on the RS5 (coupe sibling) and S6 (higher-tier) being the closest models to get a V8. There already seems to be more than enough power available in the TDI, and the 3.0T incarnations are quicker still. We may see one at some point, but they just released the SQ5 so I'm not sure an RSQ5 would be so quick to follow unless Audi corporate and Audi USA feel that an RS would either be profitable or would provide sufficient marketing value (RS models especially are typically "halo" vehicles and aren't as subject to having to make money since they project a certain image that Audi likes from a marketing standpoint).
