2013 Q5 3.0 Timing and Valve Cover Leaks
I've owned my 2013 Q5 3.0 for almost four years now and it has 47k miles. Before it went out of warranty about two years (10k) miles ago, I had the car was thoroughly checked over by my dealer. During my annual checkup today at an Indy shop in Venice, CA they said my Timing and Valve Covers were leaking, which I do see some oil on the underbody pan once removed. The shop said the leak will continue to get worse but since my oil change was about 12 months ago ~5k miles, the oil level was in-spec.
I'm kicking around the $4,500 repair plus they said to do the major service (Brake flush, plugs, belt on the supercharger etc.). I really love my car as it have it all dialed in with a GIAC Stage 1 tune/intake, lowered with spacers, and Apple CarPlay but this expense is quite a bit on a ~$22,000 car. Has this happened to anyone else with a Q5, I'm quite surprised with how minimally the car has been driven in the past two years for this to pop up. I'm also wondering if its truly necessary to repair the leaking gaskets or just run it as-is for another year or two.
