Default 2016 SQ5 MMI navigation question

Hello all,

I have a couple of questions regarding the GPS naviagtion ( Canadian version without audi connect)

1) I noticed real-time traffic reports in the info tab while in the maps
Is this from my phone being connected or does it get the info from GPS?

2) what exactly does green roads and red and is this also traffic? as not all roads are displayed in red or green as it seems like a Google maps display

If not what do the road colors means?

Many thanks
JR

Red/Green is traffic data. It comes from Sirius, not your phone. Nothing from your phone shows up on the SQ5 MMI outside of Bluetooth Phone/Audio streaming (or wired audio if you connect to the AMI port).

Your "so called" real-time traffic info comes from Sirius Sat.You're either a new owner with initial free Sirius service or you're a subscriber.I used mine when vehicle was new, and during the few times a year that Sirius turns your system on to try to entice you to fork out $$.TMC their traffic info service is of zero value even in and around Montreal, Canada's second largest city.By the time the road turns red the clean-up crew are driving off from having cleaned up whatever happened.Of no value.
I'll add that whenever I'm on the free trial I listen in because they have a lot of good channels. However the sound quality is so poor, I'd say cassette grade, I stream music from my phone via BT. from Google Play and the sound is crystal clear and costs me < $9 a month ( my cell provider allows music streaming with no data consumption) so Sirius would have to dump their price and up their quality exponentially to be competitive. Not going to happen.
Theoretically the colour (Cdn.+ correct) of the roads are Green= good to go, Red= Who knows ?

I'm a subscriber and just wondering whether it's reliable traffic info as it seems like not

Depends on your location with Sirius traffic. Some cities are better than others. Here in New England, it's about 75% accurate. When I travel to NYC, it's about 50%. Only major roads are available for traffic reporting.

i agree, i stopped using it after the trial. sound quality is worse than my old cassettes. the price is far too high for the low quality audio. the road status is canada is poor.

they want me back and keep on offering low rates for 3 month than jack up to the std price. Also, why the 15% surcharge fee ( pure profit)

It works pretty well in Toronto and in Kitchener as far as I can tell. Although if you commute regularly odds are you already know all "hotspots"

I was told by Sirius today that the traffic feature is not available for Audi and Ford ?!

Is this true ? if so why was it activated for a bit of time on my radio .
