Let's put it this way: I have yet to hear from someone who bought the 3.0T say "I wish I had gotten the 2.0T instead."

I'd agree with that after spending some time reading the various threads. I did see several times that the Q5 is eventually going to be built in Mexico. Do you if the current 2017 Q5's are still made in Germany?

Our '13 Q5 2.0t met our needs perfectly. When shopping for its replacement recently, before deciding against another Q5 at this time, I was considering the 3.0 as well as another 2.0. Strictly a personal decision, you really have to drive both and see which one is best for you. Your money, your decision.

I really did enjoy driving the Q5 2.0T, but as other suggested I think I really need to drive the 2.0T and 3.0T back to back to get a better feel if I want to spend the extra dollars. Next time I'll see if the sales guy will let me take the Q5 on the freeway as part of the test drive.

I got 2.0 because it was $3-4k cheaper which is about a year of payments savings for me, so that I can get another new car a year earlier!

No, but I was given a 3.0T loaner, and other than freeway on-ramp acceleration, in most normal driving, the 2.0T felt more nimble and responsive. I think the final drive is lower, the torque of the 2.0T with it's lighter weight does great below 50 mph where you need it most. The 3.0 did feel and little more luxurious, doesn't sound like a 4 cylinder. Pretty good hit on mileage.

But, push come to shove, I was hard pressed to justify the extra 15k or so after option packages that always come with it. I can buy a 2nd used play car like a little convertible for that price.

My 2016 3.0T was less than $5K difference, similarly equipped.
