So was this software used on all Q5's - even the gasoline powered 2.0T and 3.0T?

I have noticed however, at 2000 Kim's that the tail pipes on this one are blacker than any car I have ever known! Thought I must be seeing things. What now?
I'm so close to pulling the trigger on picking up a Q5 3.0T and now this. Since you picked up your 2017 in August and it sounds like they removed this software in May shouldn't you be exempt this issue. I was looking at CPO so now I'm wondering if I need to buy a new vehicle post May 2016 manufacturing date I won't become a part of this mess. Really second guessing if I should go with an Audi, I'm bummed.

It doesn't specifically say if it's all Q5's, but sure sounds like it. From the Jalopnik article:

"The cheat was only implemented on cars with an automatic transmission with an internal designation AL 551. This appears to be a particular variant of the eight-speed unit Audi sources from transmission supplier ZF, set up for Quattro models. It apparently covers several hundred thousand vehicles under the cheat, according to Bild am Sonntag’s reporting. Diesel engines and gasoline engines are both affected here, and models involved include the Audi A8, the Audi Q5 as Forbes notes, as well as the Audi Q7 if my Wikipedia digging is correct."

Well, mine is 9/16. Way, way past the time of all previously known scandals. If it has this issue it was done intentionally and with malice.

Thanks, I seldom bend that low anymore!

It does not have a date of MFG, just the vin ending in A028436, mean anything?

I have a feeling that once this thing is busted wide open, it will probably covers more cars than just the mentioned A8 and Q5. Who knows, maybe A4 and A6 are also impacted?

Look at the bottom of the B pillar, or on the bottom sill, near the B Pillar. It's the very top line.

The first line on the label will say "MFD. BY AUDI AG" and then there will be a 4 digit code. For example, mine says 09 14, which means September 2014.
