Fuel gauge moving slowly after fill up
Hi,
I filled up my fuel tank from 1/4 and when I started up the car it didn't move. the fuel gauge takes about 45 minutes of drive time or 30 to 100 km to slowly increment to full. (see picture). this happen many time (at leat 4 times).
the car is an audi Q5 2016 with 38800km.
Any Idea?
regards
before fill up
after fill up !!
next day and after 10km
two days after and +30km

No I've never had this problem with an Audi but I have had it with other cars.Problem can likely be readily identified by the dealer through use of their scanner.

I had this issue on my 2015 S8. The dealer confirmed it and the fix was an ECU update/flash. That was about two years ago.
Coincidentally the issue just returned last week for my most recent fill up. What I can also correlate--both two years ago and now--it is is a change in weather from warmer to colder as winter comes in. I also suspect it is some kind of deposits building up on the tank float/sensor unit; my miles driven lately have been modest--can be two weeks between fill ups. But again, dealer report was fix was the ECU update.

Hey Guys,
after visiting the dealer, I'm back to give you some news about this issue.
fault code : p0461 fuel level sensor A circuit rank perf sp
bulletin 2043357/9
need engine update
«customers should be advised to fill their tank with the ignition OFF to prevent DTC p046100». (I never filled up the car with ignition ON !!!)
The guy said it's because the reprogramming linked with the electric (after run) coolant pump of the turbo 19N4.
You can read this audi recall at this web address :

He made the update but he had the EPC light turned ON so he redid the update of 19N4a504. So weird !!!!
When I took the car, I filled up but unfortunately the problem remains the same (In my opinion, the deader know that the problem wasn't solved because when I called him, the next day, he told me that he just received a new update that must be done if the first update does not work!!! ?????).
I noticed that the needle goes up a little faster than before but not enough as the original setup.
Next time when I go to the dealer, I'll do the update and see if it will solve the issue.
Thank you and I wish a happy new year 2019 to all members of the audiword forum.

I've had fuel level senders fail on two Audi A4s, but they were both at least 6 years old by that time. In that case, the gauge not only was slow to respond to a full tank, but got erratic while driving. The level might stick in one place on a long drive, drop suddenly, or fly back up. These swings could also set off the low fuel warning lights and chime each time it drops too low.
