Default Side Curtain Airbag Recall

Got a safety recall notice in the mail today about the side curtain airbag canisters in Q5s equipped with the Pano sunroof that could pull a Takata-style detonation. Anyone else receive this? Apparently, the dealership will have the parts necessary for repair on 3/20. How much of a cause for concern is this?

They did my recall on Thursday here in Knoxville. It involves opening up the enclosure around the airbag canister assembly, checking for moisture and/or corrosion, sealing the whole assembly with wax, and closing up again. It takes 90 minutes.

Did they put the headliner and sides back up properly, Not really thrilled to have them tear the car apart.

Yes, everything looks good. Can't tell a difference in the pillar or headliner before and after.

Same here.
Just C or D pillar removal. Not headliner so no issue there.

Only thing I noticed was the smell. Very strong for a day or so. Then nothing

how are you guys getting the repair done so quickly? the letter I received said your dealer will have parts available to begin repairing vehicles affected by this recall starting march 20? I guess this is only for Canadians?

Did the mechanics let you see the amount of corrosion after taking apart the headliner? If light surface corrosion a wax will be applied tot he inflators, additional work will be needed in cases of more than light surface corrosion?

Is this only the rear part? since the letter state "precautions you should take: Owners are advised that passengers should not use the second row seating until this recall repair has been performed"?

It took 6 years for them to do this recall? considering the same parts have been used since 2011? Could it be someone got seriously hurt awhile ago? anyone hear anything?

My service advisor just returned my call saying its just a recall to check for rust, I should wait till my next service appointment to do it at the same time? lol? Is he downplaying it? the letter seems pretty serious.
