Macan has 265/40R21 and it's very nice. They look much wider than the 255. Furthermore, the Michelin Latitude Sport 3 can be mounted on 8.5" wheels. This is what I plan to put on mine.

Edit: It can't be mounted on 8.5". :-(

Interesting as I feel the same about the tire selection [Pirelli] on my SQ5. Seems a wagon-wheel'ish and could use some width while keeping the diameter in check. But, I did check Michelin's site and it's not saying that you can mount the 265/40 r21 on an 8.5" rim:

Did I misread something...?

You seems right. I problably checked the 20" instead. Sorry for the misinformation.

That's a bummer. It looks like we're limited to 255's unless we go with an aftermarket wheel set.

According to TireRack the 265/40/21 Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT can be mounted on a 8.5" wide wheel. They're still almost $500 a pop though.

You're right. It says it on their website as well. I'll probably go this route once the existing set wears out.

Since this thread petered out, there have been several others who have successfully fitted the 265's on their stock 21"s. They look a lot better too. These charts are like speed-limit signs...they're just suggestions.
