The procedure is pretty much the same for an 08 car.
I would add that the socket you need for the four 10mm nuts is very deep. I used an old 10mm box spanner which is about 50mm long and the other end - an 8mm socket, just fitted nicely into another socket - about 12 or 13mm I think.
I too dropped something down into the void in the rear panel and managed to get it out using a long magnetic pickup tool - the type like an extendable transistor radio aerial.
Incidentally, in the UK Audi refuse to support the fitment of almost any towbar onto a car with a pano roof - I fitted one anyway but apparently, they say it can cause leaks!
I can only think that there may be issues with body flex when towing higher weight loads and this loosens the bond of the centre section of glass.

Nice. This post saved me $100 for the tow package replacement panel. I was just about to buy one and took my old one and found the same thing that i could just cut it myself.
$100 now goes towards stickers. Stickers make my audi Q7 faster. Hahahaha

Hi all sorry to re open a thread but can any one tell me if the above control module ie part number would work on my 2013 Q7? Or what the correct module number would be?
Found one on eBay but it's not ending in J - Its part number 4E0907383E would this work?
Thanks in advance for any help

Next I'll be posting a brake job for the same car. I did the fronts already. Will do the rear in about a month or so and will post instructions and pics.

Anyone make an electric brake controller cable yet? I made one for my Q5, but would like to make sure the Q7 is the same. In anyone has the wiring diagrams for the harness, I would be thankful.
