Are there 2 models of MMI for the Q7? I just picked up my 2014 and there is no "Google" in the lower right. Or is that only on the cell Sim version?

The "Google" name display is only visible for active 3G MMI Nav Plus Audi Connect accounts when the Nav's Google Earth overlay is selected in the MMI. Models with Nav Plus Audi Connect require an internet connection via a SIM card to receive all the additional features.

Ahhh, ok. That makes sense. You'd think that the MMI would have been configured to use the paired cell phone through Internet starring to do the same thing, but I guess not. Maybe something they'll configure later since I do see references of Google in the green menus.

Thank for clearing it up for me.

Apple's CarPlay and Google's Android OOA advanced "infotainment" systems will do just that. Audi has announced alignment with the Android phone version, possibly appearing in some 2016 models.

I guess that's good and bad, bad that Audit will be integrating Android in to their cars (unsecured platform) but good that it will bring the functionality and that at t least it will be in top of the much more secure QNX firmware. (AKA BlackBerry)

I'm hoping it will integrate similar to how the new BlackBerry phones can run Android apps through a protected and isolated player to prevent my car from infecting my phone etc.

Actually, Audi has since announced they will also support Apple CarPlay so most everyone will be happy.

Yes, but I believe it too will be layered on to the QNX firmware so will still have the security of a more secure OS at its heart.

I've got a 2012 Q7 S-Line Prestige. Can it be updated to the 2015 releases of both nav data and software?
