Default 2014 Q7 V1 radar detector install question

Hi all,

Joined a month ago since I bought my 2014 Q7. Most of the DIYs use the driver's fuse box- has anyone used the homelink? I can't find the T25 screw within the sunglasses holder.

Thanks!

I would just go the easy route - tuck the power cable into the headliner, then down A pillar, to the driver side fuse box and tap in there. It's so much easier. You can splice flat telephone cable line to the power cable if it's coiled or too thick.

I tied my Escort 9500XI into the hot wire on the reading lights. The power shuts off a few minutes after the car is off and comes on with the key.

The hard part was finding the right section of the circuit to plug into. I did it over a year ago and cant remember which on I tapped.

It's nice and clean and the wire comes out of the sunglass holder (which I do not use b/c it's too small).

Do you guys have the blind spot warning system in your Q? I do and find that I can not use my V1, the systems is constantly sending out a radar checking the blind spots and that sets off my V1 constantly.

You can disable the band detection on you V1 used by sideassist if police don't use it in your area. They don't in CA.

I have the V1 mounted high up on the windshield (right at the spot that is above the mirror) on the passenger side and have found up high the side assist does not trigger it
