if they would mix the e tron with the SQ 7 v8 I would order one tomorrow
Even if I had to wait 2 years to get it. It is impressive for sure but the intoxicating performance of the SQ 7 is what I care more about.

I'm going to vent.
I just don't understand.. Who would want a plug in hybrid? The direction the automotive industry has been going in recent years makes me sad. And EVs are ruining it even more. No more V8 powered SUVs. But now, electric drivetrains.. This is the beginning of the end of internal combustion engines.
This is exactly why I hate tesla. They are the masterminds behind this whole EV movement with hopes to eventually phase out gasoline and diesel powered vehicles. And I don't like that. EV's sound cool. But In the real world they suck. Especially in the cold north, when on a cold day in the winter, their EV range is cut in more than half of what it should be because electric circuits don't function as well in the cold. But you aren't supposed to know that.
First we saw the Volvo XC90 T8 and now the Q7 E-Tron.. as I said it's the beginning of the end.
I just wish Audi (and Volvo) offered a V8 powertrain in their SUVs... Not every buyer cares about gas mileage.

a true hybrid is the future but...
I had one of the original GMC Yukon hybrids, and it was a pretty great concept that fell short due to design incompetence. It never let me down and never had any issues but it completely failed to achieve its goal. The Chevy Volt is the future of driving as you have GOT to produce energy out of something.
I dream of the day when Audi (or someone) builds a Q7 prestige level SUV BUT makes it a true hybrid, in other words, the motive power comes only from electric motors. It will have a storage medium (batteries etc) to store the power produced by a small, efficient on board generator system driven by a gas turbine engine. Turbines can be tuned to run on just about anything that will burn, and can be tuned for VERY efficient mileage as they run at a constant speed. The turbine in conjunction with the electric motor/brake recovery systems that exist today would give us very low pollution levels, run on fuels that can be easily made from bio mass, and give us unlimited range. I love the Tesla concept but I need to be able to drive 500 miles or more in a day sometimes and it simply cannot do it. I would love to talk to Elon Musk about his concepts and future plans like the Tesla X (why the heck did you put the gull wing doors on the rear????)
We have the ability to make the world a far better cleaner place but money and greed sure do get in the way.
