Default Adaptive Air Suspension Compressor

Ok After a bit of help on this forum i got the compressor off. I installed the replacement ring kit. Installed it all back and now i'm back where i started.

I've currently got a fan heater blowing on the temp sensor to see if its working.
Its showing 17.3 ohms rising to 20 ohms so far.. I assume thats good.

Have i missed something with resetting the codes?
VCDS - clear codes - confirm etc. Ignition off then on again and i still get temp sensor overheat error and mention of a leak.
The compressor refuses to run.
Not so bothered about the leak, i assume thats becasue the compressor hasnt run...
Any ideas?

Thanks guys!

Thanks for the reply :-)

So the original symptoms where - Car suspension flat.
Both the Suspension lights flashing
Codes:
1577
1440
1772
1770

So i took it to bits and installed the new ring kit. Cant hurt either way...
Put it back together...
I'm getting
01583 - Leak in System Detected - I assume because i've taken the pipes off?
01770 - Temperature Sensor for Level Control Pump/Compressor (G290)
008 - Implausible Signal

Relay ordered -
Pump runs well if manually powered, the temp sensor changes resistance if you heat it up..
Unable to get permanently remove the error codes.
I think thats all i can test without the relay.....
There is some pressure test available but not in VCDS.

I was about to ask you how it went, not that good I guess.

Are you really measuring as low as 15-20 ohms or do you mean kilo-ohms? From what I can read on the interwebs the sensor (if it is similar to the Allroad etc) should have resistance in the kohm-range.
If you dont, I guess your temp sensor may be broken.

I was set to ohms... I tried to bridge it out with a 10k resistor based on the values table from an Allroad. That seems to show 10k at 10c. That still didnt work so i've got the relay to try now..

Does anyone know where the relay panel is on a RHD 2008 Q7...?

LETS RELOOK AT THE PROBLEM CODES. IT IS SAYING YOU STILL HAVE A LEAK. LETS LOOK AT YOUR BAGS FOR SIGNS OF LEAKS. lets do this before you replace your compressor.

From what you have described here and with these codes set here this sounds like there is a leak with one or more rear or front air suspension strut.I have seen one fail and cause this issue as well as both. When they develop leaks this causes the compressor to run to try and raise the vehicle to the proper height and after time this will over heat the compressor causing the over heat code, leak code, high limit code and level sensor code.

If you haven't checked the rear and front suspension struts for leaks this should be done.In some cases you can locate the leak by spraying soapy water on the air struts and running the air compressor and any bubbles forming on the struts is the area of the leak and the strut that needs replaced.I have had some difficult leaks to locate in some cases and had to remove the air struts and submerge them in a bucket of water and apply air pressure to them to locate the leak.

plus you should be able to see the VAG screen on which pump is working the hardest to air it up. If the system was leaking air from a spring bellow -you will see one of the FL, FR, RL, RR valves being opened frequently to "top-up" the lost air in the spring.

Prior to having the problem I didn't have any codes relating to a leak. I was assuming that the leak code is because the system is empty?
I'm running the compressor on another battery manually and its pumping away but the car isn't going up. Should it?
I've let it run for about 3 mins but nothing happens. How long to pump the car up?
What makes me wonder at the compressor is the amount of current it draws. Its making 1.5mm cable physically hot too touch and completely melted some smaller cables.

I've not noticed anything in VCDS specifically related to the air struts. Is it only in VAGCOM?

Thanks
Jason
