Default Hitch

Hi there,

I was wondering is someone knows the cost of a hitch installation for Q7. I was quoted in NYC $399 including the hitch. They said that is it quite complicated and that is why its so expansive..

Any help would be appreciated!

399$ isn't bad considering the hitch in the aftermarket alone is 100-150$. Plus the bumper has to be removed.

$399 is a good price.
The price from Audi on their order sheet is $820 (without side assist) and $920 (with side assist). This price os for a Q5 which I think would be similar.

What are you going to be towing? If you don't use the Audi wiring harness and controller, then code the various components via VAG-COM or something similar, the car won't know that the trailer is connected and adjust accordingly (back-up sensors and/or camera, trailer light checking, I believe the transmission enters a tow/haul mode, etc etc). I ponied up for the factory hitch, harness and controller when I added it to my 2007 3.6 (my 2007 4.2 already had the full factory tow).

I think this is tow bar only without electrical wire connection. Dealer charges 1600 for complete hitch part/installation.

Also, it isn't THAT complicated. I did it by myself, including holding the hitch up to the back of the car to bolt it down. I would recommend NOT holding the hitch up by yourself though, it's a good 65lbs and awkward, it wants to "roll" (or rather, "pitch") because of where the center of mass is located.

Install only took something like 2.5hrs including electrical portion and re-coding the controllers.
