Default Introduction - New 2009 Q7 S-Line Owner

Just purchased a used 2009 Q7 Quattro 3.6L S-Line for my wife. It has 96k miles, we're the 3rd owner, for $24k here in Northern California.

Regarding German cars, I've owned a 2002 A4 Audi (used), a 2010 VW Jetta (new), a 2014 BMW 328 (new), and a 2009 VW Touareg (used). The A4 was surprisingly my favorite - something about that body! Anyway, like any vehicle nearing 100k miles, my concerns are your standard "water pump & timing belts"
- what is the recommended 2009 Q7 100k maintenance schedule?
- [B] any known quirks with the 2009 Q7 (I remember the Touareg had a water issue that was easily fixed ) [B]

What Audi's main issues usually come from some electric component of the car. Lights, fluid leaks (due to cooling system material degrading over time) and ignition usually come to the forefront in their issues. If you are looking at the Q7 with 100,000 miles, you may want to have the timing belt checked. The car at this mileage is just out of the manufacturer's warranty period and the timing belt and water pump would be the next scheduled maintenance for this vehicle. So you should be assured that mechanically the car is outstanding and will run for a long time so long as you can deal with non-working tail-lights and small electronic issues with the MMI (Audi's car interface such as Nav,radio controls). I am not saying that this is what will go wrong, these having a higher % of failing first if there is any issues.

3.6 has a timing chain, no belt there.

Thanks for the maintenance schedule! I've been reading about the sunroof leaks and other quirks and will spend this weekend going over my list as well as the above one.

My initial concern is absolutely the timing-belt/waterpump but I've been unable to confirm with 100% certainty whether or not it is a timing belt or chain. You say its a chain, is there an official chart or something of which to glean?

I've
already ordered a new iPhone connecter to the MMI already ordered a new iPhone connecter to the MMI
-- all I care about is playing music from the headphone jack, not necessarily directly from my iPhone 5. Hopefully this will not bring to light any unknown issue!

Open your hood ;-) you'll notice no covers in front meaning the chain is in the back. Look under the center console or in the glovebox for the MMI connecting plug. You might have to purchase a mew cable to fit that Iphone 5 tho.
