Default looking to purchase a Q7

Hey guys. Looking to get a Q7. Wanted to know if there are any years I should stay away from? If you guys were to buy a Q7 now which year model would you buy?

Thanks in advance.

use search function to help…2007 had water leak problems, ruining stereo…years before I believe 2009 had diesel fuel pump problems, potentially ruining engine ($10k plus!!!)…later diesels (like mine!!) have the better 8 speed transmission, rather than the 6 speed (I've had both,BIG difference)….good luck….

I would stay away from the earlier models (up to 2009) maybe even up to 2010 because they don't have the 8 speed trans. Also, lots of sunroof drain leaks in early models and a lack of engine power.

All this coming from a 2009 owner haha. I've had a few issues myself, but thankfully my factory and CPO warranties have covered them. CPO expires next summer. Wife and I are waiting to see what Audi delivers for the MY16.

As mentioned above, go with a 2011+ specifically for the new 8-speed tranny.

I have owned a 2007 and now a 2011 and the ride comfort between the two is night-and-day. The tranny helps immensely as does the adjustable air suspension (AAS) on the 2011.

Agreed. I like my '09 but the 6 speed is jerky and the ride is sometimes pretty rough. Hopefully, when the times comes to upgrade, I think TDI and air suspension will be a must have.

6speed on 4.2 in "sport" mode was very aggressive. jerky is not even close to describing it.

Thanks guys! I really appreciate the help. I will also search the forum for more info but if there are any other opinions out there please post them here. I am going to a dealership this weekend and would like to be prepared before I get there on what I want.

So far I'm looking for a 2011 and up possibly TDI? I'm in NYC so dieel is more then gas usually but I travel to Connecticut's occasionally and might be cheaper up there.

Thanks again!

I just got a 2012 q7 3 weeks ago...not much time to have a real input but so far I am happy with everything. I got a prestige S line and I think looking for the high end models is worth it.
good luck

Thanks. I am looking for the s line as well. How long did it take u to find one? Seems like diesel is hard to find used as it, let alone the s line. But I only been to one dealership this weekend and they kept pushingbthe fact that the diesel model is super hard to find...
