I've spent several weeks trying to get my MMI back alive and would appreciate some tips on next steps. I had sunroof drain water damage on the amp, so I sent it off to be repaired. In the meantime, I bought a couple of fiber loop back adapters. Putting those in place of the amp, Sirius, and radio units (the three in the rear where I had water) didn't fix it. The CAN gateway is the fault found, open circuit. I've Googled that to death and can't determine where to look for that.

What errors do you get with the loop back connector in place?

Is this just one connector you can use to bypass all three items?

It looks to me that one of the items you have put back in the bus is dead an dropping the whole loop which is why it's showing a whole raft of items.

I don't know where the start and end of the bus is but I guess it's at the front and probably a box under the carpet in the front footwell.

Thanks for this Edd. I put a loopback in front of the control module and still nothing. No one seems to know how the fiber is routed around the vehicle. I'm about ready to rip all of it out and put in a new system. Audi wants $500 just to try and find the fiber break, and I'd rather put that towards a new system. Stinks to have to live without basics like setting my clock to the correct time. Really disappointed in Audi here.

Finally found a reputable "Euro" dealer here who for $300 checked all connections. Turns out it was my Nav unit. The one thing I'll never use. I bypassed it and everything came back to life. Just kicking myself as I'd tested the other 3 devices right there.

I'm still frustrated at this needlessly complex tech and how little info there is out there about it. Such is life with Audi I guess.
