I'm sure everyone's opinions will change once it's released and we can all see it in person, test drive it, etc. Personally, I think the technology is amazing and totally looking forward to it.

Hi,
I think it is too early to judge and I am sure it is tooooo early even to think about buying. I am from automotive (even I know who will make the wiring for this car...) and believe me buying the car earlier than 6 months after the SOP is extremly risky.
I saw in the previous posts your comments regarding the size of the car. Few months ago I have seen in same presentation the word "Q8" but at that time I was thinking that it is there by mistake, now I am thinking, that Audi is just developing something bigger size...
Anyhow, this car can be interesting for me, but not in the near future, from technical reasons the period is a year after production runs. Audi has already started the production, so middle of 2016 could be a good time to buy, so still hell of time to make our own opinion about it.
Regards
Paul

I never liked the current Q7 for two reasons: 1) somber, heavy, almost Gothic look; 2) short/low greenhouse: the windows look hard to see out of.
The new one has a much lighter, airy look with what appears to be a higher greenhouse, making it look (to me) more current. I can see a lot of sub-40 year olds finding it a more attractive purchase for these reasons, especially if they bring a 2.0 version to the US and keep the price at a reasonable increase over the Q5 for that “entry” model.
I think the bright grille surround will seem less of a “pop” with a lighter color, especially with silver paint. Why Audi selects the same garish bright blue (something OK in a TT or such) for early release photos of many of its models escapes me. To me the color just cheapens the look of the bigger non-sporty vehicles.
If you look at the current Q7 it has some amazingly bulging wheel arches too, just different. I imagined the current Q7 lowered an inch or two and it looks Avant-ish as well.
I will wait to see it in “the metal” to pass judgment but it really doesn’t look bad except for the lowered ROW look.
