Knock on wood - starting up fine at 0 to -10 temps in the mornings Car is in an un-insulated garage and exposed parking lot at work at the end of the day. Don't recall if I changed out the battery yet.

A correctly functional Diesel should start fine in -21 degree weather. Biggest issues are Diesel fuel gelling, mostly because it wont flow through the filter. But your supplier should be running a winter blend making this a non issue. There are also aditives you can add to help with this, but again shouldn't be an issue.
Next up is the Urea but there is a tank heater in most if not all diesel setups. But you shouldn't need this to start the car.
Glow plugs should heat the air to start the combustion process past these things you should have a running motor.
YMMV but a properly built car should have no issues.

i imagine there are areas much colder than what we're experiencing here in NA but of course other fuels available for such conditions. this is simply an attempt to gather anecdotal data to determine my next purchase.
when i owned the v10 it took forever to warm up and reach operating temps when we went away however it was basically the equivalent of two engines. i am hoping the six cylinder variant is nowhere near the same amount of time.

Runs perfectly at -14C with regular gas station pump diesel with no additional additives. The MPG drops to 18-20 in the city and lower twenties on the highway.

10 minutes to warm up
It was 8 degrees this AM. Car was outside all night, started up, reached normal operating temp in 10 minutes (center line on gauge), 2015 Q5 TDI
