RSQ7 Grill upgrade and some cleaning
Got the RSQ7 grill in today and immediately put it on the car.
I noticed the replacement grill has 8 screw holes, but my 07 only has 6 screws, the top corner ones arent used. The top corner screw areas I had to saw off the RSQ7 grill as they were holding the upper corners of the grill out and not letting it clip in.
Also as seen in the pics it is a good idea while u have the grill off to clean out any obstructions between the radiator and I am guessing the transmission radiator. mine had a lot of leaves etc in there. I just stuck a wire between them and sawed it all out. Blew the rest out with air.
I believe the screws were TORX 25.
After the screws were out, I pushed the upper tabs down so the top would pull out easier. I reached down with my hand and pried up the lower ones. Of course one would not let go so I just yanked the grill off that last one.
I cleaned the whole area and I painted the back area glossy black to try and hide it behind the grill. Not putting the plate back on as its just a laser target anyway.

That would be great since the lower vents are a near perfect match for the RS grill on the facelift Q7s. I wouldn't mind doing that either, but I believe they cut outs differ in shape/size.

Any pictures! RS Grill looks pretty good on the the Q7 non S-Line!
What do you mean by you got rid of the tail lights too? Did you replace with OEM or aftermarket?
Here's a good honeycomb retro fit into the A5/S5 Fog grills.. I've taken mine out and looked, it would be possible to do something like this. Wouldn't be as easy though. But fortunately fog grills are only $50 and some change on eBay so if you screw up its not the end of the world.

ah nice! ours dont have lights in them though right? I was thinking of getting the honeycomb mesh from a lower grill on a jetta and cutting it to match the openings, molding with heat gun probably.
